Seafood Restaurant & Bar About Monks Ballyvaughan

“If you ever go across the sea to Ireland,
then maybe at the closing of your day
you will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh
and see the sun go down on Galway Bay.”
From the song ‘Galway Bay’ by Arthur Colahan

About Monks

Monks Ballyvaughan Seafood Restaurant & Bar (Formerly O’Lochlains) was established in 1980 by Michael and Bernadette Monk. It was a local bar and food store for the people of North Clare for many generations. It also acted as a drop-off point for people taking the boat to Galway, Aran Islands and further afield. Even then, it was renowned for its seafood chowder, fish cakes and other seafood delights. Monks Ballyvaughan was refurbished to a high standard in 2016.  The refurbishment married the old and new to create an authentic, comfortable, relaxed place to hang out, eat and drink with family and friends.
