Monks (Formerly O’Lochlains) was established in 1980 by Michael and Bernadette Monk. It was a local bar and food store for the people of North Clare for many generations. It was a drop off point for people taking the boat to Galway, Aran Islands and further afield and was renowned for its seafood chowder, fish cakes and other seafood delights. Monks was refurbished to a high standard in 2016 and the aim was to marry old and new to create an authentic, comfortable , relaxed place to hangout , eat and drink with family and friends.
